Every thing we do in our life should have benefits so that there will be a reason for what we are doing. As a part of my English course that I take, I have done this blog including some information about me, besides the main subject which is Global Warming. I tried to introduce this problem as easy as possible so every one can understand this issue and value it, including the cause, effects and what individuals can do in order to reduce the bad impacts of this coming crisis. After doing a lot of reading about global warming I realized how dangerous it is, it may not affect us at the moment, but I thought about the future and especially when my children’s life will be at risk, how can they manage facing the side effects of it and how it will affect their life. So, starting from this moment all of us should think how to save the next generations from the risky consequences of global warming and performing the available solutions to cut them down as early as possible.

our role in reducing the impact of global warming May 21, 2007

As global warming is an issue that worries all of us as humans, people should start doing something to prevent us from its dangerous impacts. As our activities have a huge effect in rising the CO2 emissions, it our responsibility to participate in reducing it by different ways. When buying a new car we should look for that one with best fuel economy in its class, or look for new technologies such as hybrid engines. When it is possible, we also can join a carpool or take mass transit. We can make a difference too, by planting trees in private property and public areas. Besides storing carbon, trees planted in and around urban areas and residences can provide much-needed shade in the summer, reducing enerTo install a new fluorescent tube, insert the tube's prongs into the holder.gy bills and fossil fuel use. At our homes, unplugging the extra refrigerator or freezer we rarely use can be one of the quickest ways to reduce your global warming impact.

A large amount of electricity we use to generate lightings is from polluting fossil fuel power, so by replacing our incandescent light bulbs with more efficient compact fluorescent lights, which now come in all shapes and sizes. We will be doing our share to reduce on heat trapping pollution and we will save money on energy and light bulbs.

UAE and global warming May 19, 2007

Although the UAE signed the United Nations’
Kyoto protocol on global warming, it is found that the UAE is one of the countries with the highest demand on the glob ecosystem. The emirates are consuming away energy by cooled swimming pools, huge 4×4s, artificial resort islands,
an indoor ski slope and air conditioners in every house, car and shopping mall. The environmental agencies are putting planes to cut emissions, through reducing the use of air conditions. Campaigns are motivating people to turn down their air conditioning. But the need to live a good life which is somehow felt by the air conditioning every where, it is a hard solution to achieve.

From my point of view, I see that it is a harsh report which puts our country on the top of the scale of consuming away energy and spreading emissions. They didn’t look at the problem from different sight as they didn’t put in consideration the effect of our hot weather in our life. People will not be able to work in offices with out air conditions, how can they concentrate and produce for the country under 45 degrees in July! We also shouldn’t forget about the transportation, shopping malls and clubs, with out air conditioning people will find difficulties in their normal daily life. Tourism will be affected also, as nowadays the UAE is trying to use it as an alternative resource to increase the country economy instead of relaying on oil. In my opinion, I see that people here in the UAE or even in the Middle East don’t pay attentions to the issue of global warming in which if still not felt and it is not threatening our life as poverty and war does.

The global warming and The Wildlife May 11, 2007

Global warming is having an important impact on our environment and especially the wildlife which includes different kinds of animals and plants. Although the most dramatic effects may not be felt for decades, but several studies revealed that, as temperatures is increasing  in latest decades, certain species began breeding and migrating earlier than expected. Other studies shows that geographical range of many kinds of species are shifting toward the pole or to higher elevation in which is pointing that some plants and animals are inhabiting  areas that were in the past too cold for survival. It’s obvious that the rapid rising in temperatures beside other environmental pressures could upset the connectedness among species and possibly lead to several extinctions. The studies also discovered that the spring time events such as blooming, egg laying and the end of hibernation , are now occur about 5.1 days earlier per decade on average. Since some species depends on others as their source of food, climate change affected that and caused what can be called as the tearing of communities. It is believed that the rapid climate change, coupled with the loss of habitat and other ecological stressors, could lead to the disappearance of species.

How can global warming affect the world ? May 8, 2007

There are many serious problems associated with global warming. One major problem can be described as climate change. When the temperature is going up, the north and south poles are mainly affected as a result and they might be at risk of melting. the melted ice will risen up the sea level in the surrounding oceans that will lead to killing floods and hurricanes to the countries which lies in that regions, human being are dying and cities are destroyed and could be disappearing. The wild life will be affected also because some species can not stand living in different hot weather which is unlike there nature. So that some of them might face the issue of extinction which will effect in the life cycle and environment. The fish population is one example which can face problems from the increasing of temperatures and some kinds of insect will spread more causing diseases. As burning fossil fuels releases mostly carbon dioxide which increases the greenhouse effect but they also release sulfur dioxide and various nitrogen oxides which the mixture of these gases forms clouds in the atmosphere which will fall as an acid rain. Acid rain can kill tress fish and birds and damages the buildings.

Over Popultion May 7, 2007

As it is from the laws of nature to have a balanced cycle of life and that when a new human being or any other living species comes to life, on the other side one is passing away so that our planate is kept in a stabile condition as it is meant to be. But unfortunately in our real world the opposite is happening. The world population is growing in number rapidly; the birth rates are higher than the death rates and as a result of that, the world is facing a difficult crisis which can be described as “population explosion”. As the population is increasing, there is a huge expansion on the usage of land in order to supply the people with the basic survival material demanded which are food, water, clothing , energy and shelter. Most of the world land has been built as towns and cities and the other is considered arable. It is important to say that over population is effecting the whole environment with all human, animals, plants and even the climate. Because when the cites is expanding, people is cutting down the forest to build homes, factories and roads and that will effect the species which lives in there leading in extinction, it also will result in rising up the percentage of carbon dioxide which then changes the climate and the globe heats. The demand of electricity and energy will go up also so pollution and waste rises as a result.

What Causes Global Warming ?? May 7, 2007

Nothing in this world will occur or happen without reason causing it. As I introduced and talked earlier about global warming, I’m going now to outline the causes of this dangerous issue that threatens us as humans and the environment around us. The greenhouse gases especially carbon dioxide (CO2) are considered as the main cause of global warming. Carbon dioxide is released form human activities such as burning fossil fuels. As a result carbon dioxide is increasing in the atmosphere and trapped in their heating the earth. Deforestation is another important reason which also increases the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere as the tress the main source of producing oxygen is using up the CO2 so when large areas of forests are destroyed by cutting it down or burning, the loss of tress will cause more CO2 trapped in the atmosphere warming the earth. The growth of population can be a great factor causing this crisis, because when there are many people, the demand on the basic needs like food, energy and shelter and the usage of electricity will increase and oil, so that the pollution is rising also effecting our environment and specifically the global warming issue.

What is Global warming ? April 22, 2007

No thing on this earth stays stable the same as it was at first, the cars are growing in number causing more pollution, the people are changing in the way they live, eat and think and the relationship between them is becoming worse, the animals are at risk of extinction and many major problems are facing the earth it self.   The earth is warming; the temperature went up rapidly since the last century. This heat is coming form the greenhouse gases and the increasing of carbon dioxide gas which trap the energy in the atmosphere and warm it. As a result, the climate is changing causing many severe impact on the earth in which the ice is melting in the south and north poles leading to the increase of the sea level, therefore many countries might suffer from killing floods that will disappear these countries and their inhabitants. The wild life and plants are affected also because of global warming, some kinds of plants and animals can’t stand living in a hot environment so that it might face extinction and that will effect our life cycle and the environment balance.  It is worth noting that the people activities and the new technology take the biggest part of responsibility in causing global warming, so all of us should think more on how we can change the bad habits that will change our future to the best.

About me April 22, 2007

Finishing high school with flying colors and starting my new life at college was one of my childhood dreams that came true. I felt that if this moment happens, I will have my independence to study the subject I like and feel responsible and satisfied about my choices and future. I am 19 now, studying Medical Lab Technology at CERT. I take an English course which I enjoy a lot; beside the major subjects which are Chemistry, Terminology, life science and lab technology. The exams and assignment make me feel stressed sometimes but I come over it by relaxing at home and forgetting about it for a while, taking a warm shower, listening to music and wearing make up! Feeling the beauty sometimes changes my mood for the best and then I can focus on my studies again. Watching the view of the sea is one of my favorite’s things to do every weekend, the smell of the sea and the sound of the waves comforts me a lot. I enjoy also fishing with my father. Even if I didn’t catch any fish until now I keep trying again and again and I always remember when my father said to me that fishing teaches us patient that I will learn to benefit from it not just in fishing but also in my real life.

The Candy floss and me “Love form the first sight” April 11, 2007

Having lovely memories of childhood make me feel better sometimes, especially when I’m down because of our boring routine and every day stress at college. These happy memories motivate me and make me think that if life was good when I was a child, it might some day be the same. One of the moments that I won’t forget is that when I used to go to the park with my mother and have my favorite sweet “candy floss “I really love it! this moment used to be the most interesting time when I watch the man spinning the stick inside the machine and the pinky candy floss become bigger and bigger, then I hold it in my little hand with a smile in my face. The eating part was the best when the candy melts in my mouth at the moment it enters it. I found a strange pleasure when I eat it that I used to think that I’m sitting on the clouds and I’m eating it, I was over imaginary but I enjoyed that. So that, sometimes I like to come back to that fun moment and feel it again. I remember one day I looked for candy floss in every supermarket and every shopping mall, but I was really shocked because I didn’t find it! I thought may be they don’t make it any more. I couldn’t believe in that, my favorite sweet it not harmful, why will they not make it, after long searching and asking I found a small kiosk in front of the shopping mall making and selling it. Finally I got the chance to feel the moment again, the same machine, the same color and the same tasty flavor. I just love candy floss!!
